Breast Lift

Here in Northbrook, Illinois, breast lift with Dr. Mark Sisco is a favorite procedure among women in search of a youthful boost who expect quality care and exceptional results. Serving patients from North Shore, Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Highland Park, and beyond, Dr. Sisco performs breast lift surgery to improve the shape of the breasts while retaining their natural look and feel.

Who Needs a Breast Lift?

Breast lift surgery is appropriate for women who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts but bothered by sagginess. The procedure can:
Help the breasts appear firmer and more sculpted
Improve symmetry if the breasts are misaligned
Reshape or resize the areolas
Breast lift is especially popular with women who have had children since pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave the breasts looking “deflated.”

How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?

Here in Chicago, the cost of breast lift surgery depends very much on the specifics of the surgery. In general, procedure costs range as follows:
Breast lift: $8,700 to $10,100
Breast lift with implants: $11,000 to $13,000.
Other factors that affect cost can include:
Surgical facility fees
Anesthesiology fees
The expected duration of your procedure
During your consultation, we offer you a written estimate for your procedure that details the anticipated fees. There’s no need to decide immediately during this appointment. Instead, you can bring home the estimate and share it with other household decision-makers before moving forward with your surgery.

What Are the Different Types of Breast Lift?

Your breast lift surgery is tailored to your needs. During the planning process, Dr. Sisco takes extensive measurements of your breasts and facilitates a candid discussion with you about your ideal outcome. Typically, a breast lift is performed using 1 of the following incision types:
Concentric:

Also called the “doughnut” incision, this traces all the way around the areola. Once healed, this incision is nearly invisible because it blends with the natural color delineation of the areola. However, this incision creates the least amount of lift, and therefore it’s best for patients who need only a minimal amount of improvement.

Circumvertical:

Also called the “lollipop” incision, this option uses the concentric incision with the addition of a vertical line down the lower portion of the breast. This option offers a moderate amount of lift and can also change the size and shape of the areola.

Inverted “T”:

Also called the “anchor” incision, this option adds a horizontal incision along the breast crease to the lollipop incision. This incision provides the most lift and is typically used when the breasts show significant sagging.

Regardless of the incision that’s the best match for you, Dr. Sisco uses meticulous techniques during surgery to ensure that the resulting scar is as discreet as possible.

Choosing Between a Breast Lift and Augmentation

A breast lift removes sagging, excess skin and raises the breasts to create more shapely, youthfully positioned breasts, but it doesn’t add the volume you would get from a breast augmentation. Women who want both fuller and more elevated breasts often combine their breast lift with implants to achieve the results they’re looking for.
Breast lift surgery can also be combined with breast implant removal surgery to reshape the breasts or breast reduction to reduce the size of your breasts and lift them. During your consultation, Dr. Sisco listens carefully to your aesthetic goals and helps you decide on the best approach.

Common Breast Lift Questions

Dr. Sisco performs breast lift surgery as an outpatient procedure. However, to ensure your comfort, you’ll be under general anesthesia for the duration. The procedure can take a couple of hours to complete, after which you’re briefly monitored before being able to return home in the care of an adult.

Recuperation after a breast lift is often faster than patients anticipate, although you should expect some bruising and swelling in the breast area that will mostly resolve within a couple of weeks of the surgery. Wearing a support bra helps minimize swelling; you will receive guidance from Dr. Sisco on how to address these and other issues during your recovery.

If you work a relatively sedentary job, you should be able to comfortably return to the office within a week. However, it’s best to avoid anything strenuous for several more weeks.

It’s important to keep your incisions dry and protected during your recovery. Once you are cleared to shower after surgery, be sure to pat your incisions thoroughly dry. Do not sit in a bathtub or go swimming for the first 4 weeks after surgery so that your incisions have time to heal fully before being immersed in water. With proper care, breast lift incisions will fade from red to light pink over the next few months and begin to flatten.

After a breast lift, avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for the first week or two to prevent putting pressure on the incisions. It’s best to sleep on your back propped up with pillows or in a recliner as directed by Dr. Sicso.

Your breast lift results can last for many years, especially if your weight stays relatively stable and you don’t become pregnant.

A Reputation Built on Results

5/5
Along the way to dealing with breast cancer, I discovered a team of wonderful doctors who guided me to make the best decisions about my health first — but to also make me feel whole and happy in the end. Dr. Sisco especially had the patience to help me overcome some problems, and I felt more than pleased with the reconstruction, even in the early stages. I now look better than when I began this journey.
