Also called the âdoughnutâ incision, this traces all the way around the areola. Once healed, this incision is nearly invisible because it blends with the natural color delineation of the areola. However, this incision creates the least amount of lift, and therefore itâs best for patients who need only a minimal amount of improvement.
Also called the âlollipopâ incision, this option uses the concentric incision with the addition of a vertical line down the lower portion of the breast. This option offers a moderate amount of lift and can also change the size and shape of the areola.
Also called the âanchorâ incision, this option adds a horizontal incision along the breast crease to the lollipop incision. This incision provides the most lift and is typically used when the breasts show significant sagging.
Recuperation after a breast lift is often faster than patients anticipate, although you should expect some bruising and swelling in the breast area that will mostly resolve within a couple of weeks of the surgery. Wearing a support bra helps minimize swelling; you will receive guidance from Dr. Sisco on how to address these and other issues during your recovery.
If you work a relatively sedentary job, you should be able to comfortably return to the office within a week. However, itâs best to avoid anything strenuous for several more weeks.
Itâs important to keep your incisions dry and protected during your recovery. Once you are cleared to shower after surgery, be sure to pat your incisions thoroughly dry. Do not sit in a bathtub or go swimming for the first 4 weeks after surgery so that your incisions have time to heal fully before being immersed in water. With proper care, breast lift incisions will fade from red to light pink over the next few months and begin to flatten.
After a breast lift, avoid sleeping on your side or stomach for the first week or two to prevent putting pressure on the incisions. Itâs best to sleep on your back propped up with pillows or in a recliner as directed by Dr. Sicso.
Your breast lift results can last for many years, especially if your weight stays relatively stable and you donât become pregnant.
